Whether it was Father Knows Best or Leave it to Beaver or Ozzie and Harriet, dinner was a time when fathers lectured kids who sat straight and ate silently, while mothers toiled over dishing out manners, as well as a three course meal.
But that was TV land.
Not in our house. Dinner time was a daily battle of survival for all involved. And it always had its winners and its losers.
